How to Protect
Kids from Child
Molesters:
A New Approach for Parents, Teachers,
Clergy, Recreational Directors and
Anyone Who Cares About Children

by Lauren Ayers, Ph.D.
with Ed Girtler, Sr. Investigator, NYS Police
This is a book whose goal is to reduce the crime
statistics against children.  The FBI estimates that one in
three girls and one in five boys will be victims of sex
crimes.

Information and Facts about How to Protect Kids
from Child Molesters:
Parents often rely on good touch/bad touch school
programs to instruct their kids on how to be safe from
child molesters.  But the crime statistics indicate that this
isn't working very well, since the FBI estimates that 25%
of children will be victims of sex crimes.  How to Protect
Kids from Child Molesters offers a new approach to
safeguard children and prevent crimes before they
occur.  The approach changes the locus of control to
parents, so that children are no longer expected to
recognize and report sexual predators.

This is based on solid data:
Crimes against children are common, and one in three
girls and one in five boys will be victimized by sexual
predators.
Only one third of children will ever report these crimes
and they do so an average of fifteen years after the
event.
For a variety of reasons, sexual predators can depend
on children's silence, and all of the education efforts
have not changed this.

The good news is that sexual predation is not hard to
recognize and with elementary training, most adults can
spot such attempts and block them.  This is the goal of
this book.

The Bully
As parents, caregivers and teachers, we owe
it to our children to teach them what to do
if they are bullied.
The Bully, for
elementary school students, fits perfectly. In
The Bully, the short story sets a scene that
children encounter all too frequently - a
school bully. The scene is followed by a
question and answer section that helps
children deal with the situation. For more
